After receiving and responding to a commercial request this week I thought I would share/remind everyone of some info about stock. :)
Just because stock is uploaded on DA doesn't mean you can use it for every project.
Some places, and even objects, are controlled by third parties or copyrighted. Even if the stock artist took the image they may not have permission to use the likeness in the image.
Example: An image taken of the Eiffel tower at night is copyrighted. Meaning that you can take a picture of it, but you cannot use it in any type of commercial endeavor (including prints).

I have a lot of inquires about using stock for book covers as well as other commercial works. Inquiries come from a number of different sources including: publishing companies, designers, and sometimes from the authors themselves. Here is some of the things I have noticed about a lot of these messages that are more damaging then helpful, and un professional. Please understand that this isn't about anyone in general nor do I feel anyone is being rude or disrespectful purposefully. I thought it would be helpful for the people inquiring and for other stock artists on DA.

I have been receiving a lot of inquiries over the use of my stock for commercial use, and I have also recently had troubles with a use of my stock in a commercial project. Up until today I have been simply asking for a donation or a copy of the work being published/made, and this has not gone so well for me. I have received very low donations (that wouldn't even cover the cost of the product being sold) or have never received the product at all. I have also received requests for use where people don't want to send me anything, but want to make money off of my images. So, I am changing my rules and fees regarding commercial use. I am no longer
